Town Management

The countryside of Mole valley provides many opportunities for local people and visitors to play an active part in its care, enhancement and management. Two countryside management projects operate in the area, undertaking a variety of tasks from sign posting footpaths and bridleways to hedge and tree planting. The emphasis is on maintaining the traditional rural management skills so that the variety and diversity of the countryside is conserved for future generations to enjoy.

The Lower Mole Countryside Management Project operates in the area immediately to the north of Dorking and the Horley/Crawley Countryside Management Project operates in the area south of Dorking, in the Charlwood area. Both projects publish a task programme and volunteers are very welcome to join in these tasks. Previous experience is not necessary, just enthusiasm. In return you will get a cup of tea and a biscuit, lots of fresh air and exercise, companionship and the best job satisfaction you will ever experience.
