West Street & Antiques
150 antique dealers in one historic street
West Street didn't just evolve into one of Britain's most prestigious centres for antiques by chance - its attractions have long been recognised ever since Frederick Turner started dealing in antiques in 1950, dealers and bargain hunters have been flocking here.
West Street sits at the heart of one of Surrey's prettiest historic towns. It retains the majority of its lovely old buildings, some dating from as early as 1563, and it has a special link with the Pilgrim Fathers through William Mullins's house at No. 56. Conservationists have encouraged it to become a thriving antiques centre, whilst preserving its historic charm.
Key to its success is that there are over 150 specialist dealers in good quality antique shops within the 300 yard length of West Street. Four of these are major centres with up to 20 dealers in each and the other individual shops offer furniture ranging from finest early Georgian to affordable Victorian /Edwardian; specialist desk and armoury shops, scientific instruments, sporting antiques, porcelain, silver, glass and a host of other collectables.
For the entire day you can shop, browse and relax the entire day.
When you fancy a break, there are a host of superb pubs, restaurants, boutiques and cafés nearby.
