Arts Festivals
The 'Arts Alive' Festival takes place annually during the last two weeks of October. Events are spread over the whole of the local area in a magnificent celebration of arts activity, bringing the best voluntary groups together with professional performers.
'Wordswork' is the annual Literature Festival and it takes place in June. Many prolific writers and poets visit the area to celebrate the word in its many forms. The festival also makes a connection with the area's literary heritage with leading writers offering new insights into the remarkable careers of Fanny Burney, George Meredith, Daniel Defoe and Richard Sheridan.
