Dorking Markets
Dorking's market received its Royal Charter over 700 years ago. Although modern traffic needs have now moved the market from the High Street to its present location behind St Martins Church in the main St Martins Walk car park, the sales cries of modern traders can still be heard every Friday from 8.30am to 3.30pm.
Variety is the always the key to a good general market. The Dorking market, even in modern times, still offers a wide range of goods which include fresh flowers and plants, meat, cheese, confectionery, pet supplies, picture framing, household goods, inexpensive clothing, sports goods and one of the best fruit & vegetable stalls in the south east.
Regularly attracting over forty producers, the Farmers Market is held in the same location as the Friday market and gives local producers the opportunity to sell direct to the public, helping the rural economy and reducing the 'food miles' from producer to consumer.
The type and number of stallholders varies with the seasons. There is a Farmers' Market held on the second Wednesday of each month, and a special Saturday market held when there are five Saturday's in a month. The market trades from 8.30am to 2.00pm, an early attendance is recommended.

A relatively new addition to Dorking's market offering are the Continental Markets. Popular with locals and visitors to the area, the French and Latin Quarter Markets offer a range of foods, goods and products not normally available. For Continental Market dates, please check the Town Centre Events page.
