Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden
This sculpture garden has been developed over the last twenty years by Hannah Peschar, an art dealer and her landscape designer husband Anthony Paul. It is in a wooded valley with natural running water formerly channelled into millponds and leets. An earlier owner of the garden had added paths and exotic planting. The remains of the old water garden are now combined with the presentation of works of art in a 10 acre designed landscape.
Sculpture
The art works are chosen by Hannah Peschar and are mainly by British artists. They are placed in a meaningful relationship to the landscape. Styles range from the figurative to the abstract. Materials include metals, glass, plastics and fibreglass, wire, ceramic, marble and wood. All are for sale. The installations are changed on a regular basis. In effect this means that the garden does not remain static. There is a strong element of surprise, which makes this sculpture garden very attractive for children as well as adults. A list of current works will be available on the day and as are information leaflets on school visits, group visits and lecture tours.
The Planting
Anthony Paul is a freelance Landscape Designer who has worked with the environment so subtly that the adjustments are easy to miss. New plants of strong form and carefully chosen colour have been added. Open space contrasts with dense planting. Vistas and surprises abound.
The landscape is used in a painterly way. There are dramatic and peaceful effects. The manipulation of moving and still water is masterly. There is consciousness of the potential of growth, decay and seasonal change.
