Polesden Lacey Great Bookham
4 Jul 2009
Tribute Night: The Counterfeit Stones supported by T.Rextasy We are delighted to welcome The Counterfeit Stones to headline the Tribute night at this year''s Polesden Lacey Festival. The band like to describe themselves as a cocktail; the essence of all the best songs and looks that the Stones ever had. Their image, guitars and instrumentals reflect a mixture the very best of the Rolling Stones from the 60s and early 70s. T.Rextasy are the ultimate tribute to Marc Bolan and T. Rex and are renowned as one of the few tribute bands who actually play without the aid of samplers, backing tapes and wigs! This is why T.Rextasy have gained the respepct from Marc Bolan''s contemporaries and have been accepted on tour with the likes of Roy Wood, The Sweet,Slade,Ian Hunter and Status Quo.

Welcome

A visit to the market town of Dorking and to the surrounding Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a special experience. The town nestles in the narrow valley between the Greensand Hills to the south and the chalk hills of the North Downs. Almost anywhere within Dorking there are glimpses out towards the Surrey Hills providing a dramatic backdrop to the day-to-day activities of the town. The countryside in turn provides panoramic views of Dorking. The spire of the parish church of St Martins is one of the tallest in the country and it acts as a landmark for visitors and local people alike.

This web site provides a guide to the blend of town and countryside that visitors down the centuries have acknowledged to be one of the most beautiful in England. It is a landscape of variety and a town of character that has inspired writers, poets, musicians and painters. It is an area that waits to be explored. Visitors will find local people only too pleased to show off their corner of England that is close to their hearts.
