Dorking West Street - Picture by Graham Ward

Antiques and Independent Shops

A short stroll around Dorking reveals an extraordinary number of high quality specialist independent shops, fabulous vintage emporiums and a renowned antiques quarter.

West Street, said to be the oldest area in the town, has a character and atmosphere all of its own.  The street has a wealth of historic buildings and is the home of the Dorking Museum.

West Street is famous for its antiques trade, drawing people to its shops and emporioums from all over the world. A walk along West Street is to experience Aladdin’s Cave.

It’s a joy to wander around Dorking discovering arts and crafts shops, boutiques, contemporary art galleries, jewellers, interior specialists and florists sitting alongside High Street chains.

You can relax in any of the excellent cafés, restaurants and public houses, enjoying a respite from the pleasures of shopping and browsing. Many of the pubs host comedy nights, jazz sessions and live music during the evenings.

A full list of shops and restaurants in Dorking is available on the Dorking BID website.
